The public cement sector has undergone an unprecedented evolution from import, to self-sufficiency, to export, while ensuring product quality and diversification, whereas in the past the market struggled to meet national demand.
This performance was made possible thanks to the measures taken by the public authorities to encourage investment in this strategic sector, but also to the efforts made by the workers, who gave their best to meet the challenge of raising Algeria to the rank of self-sufficient and cement exporting countries.
Today, the sector, represented by the Groupe Industriel des Ciments d’Algérie (GICA), has 12,000 employees, who are the pride of this large group, given the experience they have acquired, their dedication and perseverance in their work and also their sense of belonging.
The activities of maintenance and industrial assembly, training, technical support, production of aggregates and ready-mixed concrete and distribution are not left out. These are important niches for the GICA Group, which relies on this wide range of services to satisfy its customers and meet their requirements.
With this message, I would like to reiterate my commitment to unleash all initiatives and joint actions to achieve the objectives set out in the strategy of the GICA Group, which is working to maintain its position as the national leader in the cement industry.
I am convinced that together -executive staff and workers- we will succeed in defying the obstacles and facing the tough competition that the cement market is currently experiencing, in order to preserve our achievements and gain further market shares.
The GICA Group is determined to continue to offer good working conditions to its employees, to motivate them to create wealth for the Algerian economy and, above all, to ensure that these workers make their mark on the history of the cement industry in Algeria.
Mr. Rabah Guessoum
